“U-um, m-maybe I-I c-could t-try s-sewing t-too?” Winter asked with a sudden spark of panic, abruptly trying to change the flow of conversation. No, no, no! Anything, just not instruments, she thought, flashing back to the last time she had taken a musical device into her hands.
Total embarrassment. Her aunt and uncle staring at her in dismayed amusement, her music teacher going red in the face. They had spent so much money already on ‘developing her ladylike skills’ and she hadn’t wanted them to face how terrible she was at anything musical. Talking more than she had all week, she had protested out loud in an attempt to steer clear of certain embarrassment. It hadn’t been of any use, in the end. They would have nothing else. And she had disappointed them.
“I-I’m s-sure I-I c-could t-try i-instruments l-later…” With nervous glances at what was apparently the instrument table, Winter tried not to let her discomfort show but failed noticeably. Fiddling with her hands, the small daughter of Apollo risked a pleading look at the older girl, speaking clearly for once. “Could I please try sewing this time? I… have some problems with instruments.” She couldn’t help making her tone very apologetic, for some reason.

Skin: Ella has always encountered some frustration on account of her pale skin tone, which tanned very nicely but never stayed the perfect shade. She also has pierced ears but otherwise flawless skin, and has managed to keep it scar-less since her birth.

Overall:
Some critical and discreetly jealous ‘friends’ of hers would say that Elvira is too angular and small to be pretty, but whenever one of them voices her opinion, they are fairly laughed out of the room by anyone who happens to hear them.
Why? To be truthful, Ella isn’t as gorgeous, stunning, and beautiful as 99% of her acquaintances describe her. Their compliments are mostly due to the fact that 1) she always dresses in a way that’s flattering to her appearance, 2) she has an astonishingly first-class sense of style, and 3) she is attractive, just not amazingly so.
Bohemian is her favorite style and Ella usually wears light, airy clothes. Sometimes, though, when she’s playing active sports (which is often), she’ll settle for some comfortable jeans and a cute, form fitting t-shirt.
All in all, this teenage girl is averagely pretty. However, she’s got a sparkling personality and killer dressing instinct that add plenty of dazzle to her looks and easily win over friends and enemies alike.

Bubbly, fashionable, and a total socialite, Elvira ‘Ella’ LaRue was and is one of those kinds of people who shop all day on an hour’s sleep or less. Throughout the whole of her magical education, this little social butterfly would somehow manage to be awake and alert in school, turn in A+ work right on time, keep at the head of all her classes, go to at least one party every day, make hundreds of friends, and still have time for taking long walks along the beach with her dad.
Though from age three to fifteen Ella really was the typical, popular, teenage fashionista, over that time she developed a stronger core and firmer principles that her dad helped to contribute to. While her mother maintained until her death that her little girl was the best of them all from her birth, most of the rest of the island considered Ella’s real time of expansion and growth to be right after her graduation from Magic School, went she took a nose-first dive into the world of adult-hood and arose triumphant, securing the prominent rank of Didacha as one of the teachers of magic at a very young age.
At the school, she let loose her newly revealed talents of organization and leadership. However, sometimes her impatient bossiness irritated a lot of her students, though it was always hard to stay angry at the cheery young adult.
However, it’s altogether too easy to develop a grudge against Ella. Her bossy nature often offends people, and most of the time they have good reason to be offended, since she’s sometimes quite arrogant and is used to being obeyed immediately.
She also has no scruples about using people, and has very odd principles (though she does have strong ones). What some people call blackmail, she calls useful. What some people call lying, she calls necessary. What some people call manipulation, she calls… well, she doesn’t exactly call it anything, but she says it’s they’re own fault for having no backbone whatsoever.
Oh yeah… and she wants to dominate the world. That’s not so bad, is it?

History:
Juliana Vexin Avian had been one of the leading Didachas of Surrahn and very respected. All of her students had sung praises of her seemingly endless patience and remarkable ability to convey magical knowledge.
Mason Fidelius LaRue had the talent for getting things done, turning people’s minds and hearts to whatever cause he chose, and being altogether and thoroughly likeable to whomever caught his fancy. As a part of the Council, he was invaluable because of his diplomatic tact.
So when these two prominent came together in marriage, most people expected something wonderful to come out of their union.
They were disappointed…
Oh, Ella was a ‘nice’ girl, so most people described her, and very popular with the other students. But she wasn’t as patient as her mother was, although she certainly had the capabilities of her father.
And her younger sister Mallory was ‘a most diligent student,’ as all her teachers described her.
However, neither were considered to be up to their parents standards…
…until Ella graduated from Magic school!
Set hard on the track of success, the eldest LaRue child suddenly burst out with loads of potential that most definitely did not go unnoticed by the island.
Inheriting her father’s diplomatic tact and leadership aptitude along with her mother’s pure and unaffected genius, Elviana had everything she could possibly want: talent, relatively good looks, and a supportive family.
Tragedy struck, though, when she was only sixteen. Her affectionate mother, who could have taught the young girl patience over time, was the victim of a human mob while she was participating in the orientation of a new human female.
Everyone said that it was partially because of her death that Mason LaRue declined so quickly after that, falling prey to an incurable wasting disease.
Still, Macy, as she liked to be called, kept her head high and exerted herself to make sure that the family life ran on smoothly as before. With her sister away at school most of the time, she had to hire a nurse to take care of her father, as well as others to run the household.
After the technical difficulties were gotten over, though, Ella continued to pursue her teaching career and hoped for a nomination to the rank of Council.
